Tip: Start at the Virginia Street Bridge in downtown and head west for the best scenery. The path is accessible 24/7 and connects to Wingfield Park and several riverside restaurants. A beloved 49-acre city park along the Truckee River, Idlewild Park is Reno's green heart with a pond, playgrounds, picnic areas, a skate park, and the crown jewel: a one-acre rose garden certified by the American Rose Society featuring over 1,750 roses in 200 varieties. It's a peaceful escape from the casino corridor and a favorite spot for families and locals alike.

Tip: The rose garden peaks in late June/early July and again in late August — plan your visit around those windows for maximum blooms. The park also has a seasonal spray pad for kids, a fitness loop, and tennis courts. Plenty of free parking on site.
