History & Culture
The world's largest military aviation museum with over 350 aerospace vehicles and missiles spread across four massive hangars — and admission is completely free. Highlights include the only surviving XB-70 Valkyrie, a full-size replica of the Wright Flyer, Air Force One planes used by Presidents Roosevelt and Kennedy, and the Memphis Belle B-17 bomber.
Address: 1100 Spaatz St, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH 45433
Tip: Budget a full day — most visitors underestimate how large the museum is. The Presidential Aircraft Hangar requires a free shuttle from the main museum; arrive early as shuttle passes can run out on busy days. Bring your own food as the on-site cafe is pricey. Parking is free. The museum is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.

History & Culture
This unique NPS unit preserves four sites connected to Wilbur and Orville Wright and their friend Paul Laurence Dunbar. Highlights include the Wright Cycle Company where the brothers built their first plane, and Huffman Prairie Flying Field — where they perfected powered flight in 1904–1905, after Kitty Hawk.
Address: 16 S Williams St, Dayton, OH 45402
Tip: The Huffman Prairie site is separate from the downtown Dayton locations — plan your visit to hit multiple sites. The Wright-Dunbar Interpretive Center is the best starting point with free exhibits. The Wright Cycle Company building is a remarkable piece of American history in a modest package. Check the NPS website for ranger-led program schedules.
