The only BMW museum in North America, at the automaker's Upstate plant, tracing the brand through classic cars, race machines, Le Mans and Formula 1 winners, motorcycles, and future concepts. Free to enter — a real draw for car and engineering fans.

A small, hands-on science museum on the Chapman campus with Spartanburg County's only public collection of exotic animals — around 100 creatures including reptiles, fish, and a young alligator — plus a fossil room of skulls, bones, and minerals and physics exhibits.

A 1765 backcountry plantation in Roebuck where costumed interpreters tell the intertwined stories of the Moore family and the enslaved people who worked the land. Local militia mustered here before the Battle of Cowpens; tours cover the manor house, kitchen cabin, and outbuildings.
