Alabama is an unusually good state for free art: four of its major museums never charge general admission at all. The Birmingham Museum of Art (one of the largest in the Southeast), the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Alabama inside the state archives, and Auburn University's Jule Collins Smith Museum are all free every day they're open. Beyond those, the recurring deals are concentrated on the coast: the Mobile Museum of Art has been free every Thursday for Mobile County residents since 2015, and the History Museum of Mobile (which also covers Colonial Fort Condé) is free to everyone on the first Sunday of each month. In Huntsville, the Huntsville Museum of Art drops admission to $5 every Thursday evening after 5 p.m.
A few more ways to save across the state: most Alabama museums participate in Museums for All, which gives SNAP/EBT cardholders reduced admission of $1–$5 (the Mobile Museum of Art, Huntsville Museum of Art, McWane Science Center, and History Museum of Mobile all take part), and many join the Blue Star Museums program offering free admission to active-duty military families from mid-May through Labor Day. Mobile's Phoenix Fire Museum is always free, and several college and city museums around the state never charge admission either (see the list below).
